I follow San Jose State of the WAC and also the Giants in MLB. In football and basketball everyone knows who will be the first few picks in the draft. Baseball is another story. No one I talk to knows anything about draftable college players. In the WAC Fresno's Scheppers (RHP) was probably the #1 pick in the conference but he just had surgery so he's a big question mark. The metal bat makes things unreliable for position players. Can any of you give me a list (short) of names of players you think will be a number one? For the WAC and SJS I think there may be no #1's. Someone will take a chance on Scheppers just because of his outstanding year. Other than that, the HR leader, Scapperota (23 dingers) is my only choice. Remember, # 1 picks.

My guess would be that the #1 pick will be out of High School. It often is. I don't know of any of the High School players though.

Buster Posey from Florida State and Gordon Beckham from UGA will be #1s. Crow, from Mo, probably will also.
I'm wondering where Kyle Long, (Howie's other son) gets drafted. He has said continually that he is coming to Florida State and not turning pro...but that's a big chunk of change to turn down. Especially, if he's a 1st rounder, and he's been predicted to go that high.
I think before a MLB team makes him a #1 pick, they'll want to know in advance that he will sign.

Is the draft 60 rounds?

It's now 50. Most teams will stop drafting before that, though.

1400 kids will be the happiest kids in the world on draft day.

Yeah I just assumed Beckham was the Brother of UGA's shortstop. Interesting. That Catcher from California (HS) looks like a lock for a top 5 pick.

Tim is of African-American descent while Gordon is as white as a piece of paper. lol Joshua Fields, the closer from UGA, is also projected to be a 1st round pick. Last I saw he's projected between picks 15 and 20.
